Submit Your Slides to AAWAA's 35th Anniversary Exhibition & Slide Slam

Take part in AAWAA's 35th anniversary and feature up to 2 images of your artwork in the upcoming exhibition, In the Presence of: Collective Histories of the Asian American Women Artists Association, at Berkeley Art Center (opening January 27th, 2024).

While the main part of the exhibit will feature art by a few of AAWAA's founding artists, there will be a small slideshow dedicated to current AAWAA artist members' work.

This is a call back to 1989, when co-founders Flo Oy Wong and Betty Kano, with the support of Moira Roth, met at the National Women’s Caucus for Art (NWCA) and gathered slides for a proposal that would eventually become available to art historians nation-wide (listen to Flo’s side of the story here or watch Pass It On, Ep. 1). 35 years later, we are following in this tradition of collecting slides to bring visibility and recognition to Asian American women in the arts throughout history.

Tap the button below to submit up to 2 high quality JPEG images of your work to feature in the exhibition. Open to an UNLIMITED number of current AAWAA artist members.

SLIDE SLAM PRESENTATION DETAILS:

This submission form will also be used to organize and curate presentations for AAWAA's next Slide Slam, occurring Saturday, March 23, 2024 at The Ruby. Our annual Slide Slam is a chance for AAPI women artists to present their work in a rapid-fire format of 4 slides in 4 minutes and an opportunity to network with art professionals in the community.

If you are interested in being considered to present, please upload and submit up to 2 additional high quality media files.

Due to limited program time, a jury of AAWAA board and staff members will select up to 12-15 artists to present. Notification of selections will be delivered via email by February, 2024.
